Description of herbal formula according to Chinese Medicine:

Fang feng:

(Radix Saposhnikoviae) Is one of the most effective herbs for dispelling wind-cold dampness without causing dryness. It is the herb of choice when body aches and pain are the chef complaints.

Gao ben:

(Rhizoma Ligustici) Dispels, wind, cold, and dampness which are the three factors that commonly attack the muscles and lower back.

Du huo:

(Radix Angelicae Pubescentis) Enters the liver and kidney channels and benefit’s the tendons and bones. Clinically Du Huo treats such disorder as muscle and joint pains. This herb is best for pain in the lower back and knees.

Rou gui:

( Cortex Cinnamomi) Clinical studies show treatment with Rou Gui has a 98% rate of effectiveness in treating lower back pain. This herb dispels cold and relieves pain.

Lu lu tong:

(Fructus Liquidambaris) Activates Qi and blood circulation. It is especially effective for pain in the lower back and extremities.

Gan cao:

(Radix Glycyrrhizae) Antispasmodic to stop spasms. Anti-inflammatory effect.

Du zhong:

(Cortex Eucommiae) Tonifies the kidney, strengthens bones and sinews that are often resulted in weakness and soreness of the lower back and knees.

Dang gui:

(Radicis Angelicae Sinensis) Invigorates blood circulation and disperses blood stagnation to relieves pain. If blood stagnation is dispersed, swelling will automatically subside.

Xiao hui xiang:

(Fructus Foeniculi) Warms the kidney, relieves pain. The lower back houses the kidney, when kidney energy is deficient the patient will feel soreness, weakness and pain. This herb warms the kidney and relieves pain.

Gou ji:

( Rhizoma Cibotii) Tonifies the liver and kidney, dispels wind-dampness. Clinically the chief complaint is back and knee pain and weakness with stiffness and an inability to lie down flat without experiencing pain.

Chuan niu xi:

( Radix Cyathulae) Tonifies the liver and kidney, strengthens tendons and bones for lower back and knee soreness, weakness and pain. It is one of the most important and effective herbs for chronic pain in the lower body such as lumbago and weak knees.

Bai shao:

(Radix Paeoniae Alba) Has analgesic, antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory effect. It helps to relax the muscles and tendons in the back.

Huai niu xi:

(Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae) Treats soreness and pain in the muscles and joints by tonifying both the liver and kidney and strengthening their respective tissues. It is one of the most important and effective herbs for chronic pain in the lower body, such as lumbago and weak knees.

Ji xue teng:

( Caulis Spatholobi) Relaxes the tendons, treats musculoskeletal pain by unblocking stagnation in the channels and collaterals and increases qi and blood circulation to relax the muscles and tendons in the back.

Sheng di Huang:

( Radix Rehmanniae) Strengthens the bones, sinews and muscles of the lower back and knees.

Mu gua:

( Fructus Chaenomelis) Relaxes sinews, opens channels and collaterals to treat musculoskeletal disorders such as muscle spasms and stiffness. It is used for both acute and chronic conditions in the lower back.

Qian nian jian:

( Rhizoma Homalomenae) It treats both acute and chronic pain such as coldness and pain for the lower back and knees. It is most suitable for elderly patients with weakness in the tendons and bones and tightness in the limbs and joints. Tonifies the Liver and Kidneys.

Recommended to drink 2-4 cups daily, once the back pain is relieved, drink 1 cups daily to keep the back strong and protected.
