Herbal formula to help treat Edema
This formula is designed to help those with edema throughout the body. According to TCM this is due to Spleen Qi deficiency. By treating the Spleen it can help resolve the edema, clear damp heat through urination.
Symptoms:

- Abdominal fullness
- Bloating
- Retention of fluids
- Poor circulation
Description of the formula according to traditional herbal medicine:
Poria: Because of its neutral; thermal property, poria is frequently used to promote urination and eliminate dampness without damaging qi. It is commonly used to treat edema, fullness and distention, dysuria and internal accumulations of water or phlegm. Because it is neutral, poria is useful for conditions that are excess or deficient, hot or cold.
Ramulus Cinnamomi: Yang deficiency interferes with normal transportation and transformation of fluids in the body. Such interference leads to abnormal water circulation and water accumulation, characterized by symptoms such as edema and dysuria. Ramulus cinnamomi warms yang to eliminate water or phlegm stagnation.
Semen Phaseoli: Promotes dieresis and reduces swelling. Regulates water circulation and treats disorders characterized by the accumulation of water, such as edema ascites and leg swelling.
Cortex Mori: Regulates water circulation to treat excess types of facial or generalized edema, dysuria and dyspnea with fullness of the chest. It promotes normal urination and reduces swelling.
Folium Pyrrosiae: Dispels damp-heat and promotes urination. In addition it regulates water circulation to treat edema.
Herba Leonuri: In cases of kidney qi deficiency, Yi mu cao treats symptoms of dysuria, scanty urine, chronic edema, heavy sensations of the back and legs, abdominal distention and fullness after meals, sallow completion, movement difficulties, fatigue and listlessness. This herb can also treat edema due to chronic nephritis.
Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae: Eliminates water accumulation, dries dampness. Edema due to accumulation of water and dampness. Deficiency of the spleen impairs its normal function to transform and transport water, leading to edema and other conditions of water accumulation. Rhizoma atractylodis macrocephalae is most suitable for edema with Spleen qi deficiency.
Fructus Chebulae: This is an astringent herb that reduces swelling and constrict and uses the excess fluid out of the body.
Polyporus: Promotes urination, eliminates dampness and water accumulation and treats edema, scanty urine.
Rhizoma Alismais: Regulates water circulation and resolves dampness to treat edema, urinary disorders and other disorders characterized by accumulation of water and dampness.
Pericarpium Zingberis Recins: Resolve dampness, regulate water circulation, and drain water accumulation. It is especially good for water trapped in the superficial parts of the skin.
Green Tea: To harmonize this formula
Recommended to drink 2-4 cups daily for 1 month or until edema is resolved.
