Description of herbal formula according to traditional herbal medicine:
Ramulus Cinnamomi: Used to treat neck and shoulder pain caused by stagnation of wind, cold and dampness. Gui zhi travels to the superficial layers of the body, warms the muscles, and opens the channels and collaterals thus relieving pain.
Radix Purariae: Is excellent for relieving headache, stiffness and pain in the neck and shoulders. This herb enters the Spleen, which controls the muscles. Ge gen is acrid and cool and thus dispels pathogenic factors from the muscle layer and relieves pain.
Radix Saposhnikoviae: Treats painful obstruction syndrome that attacks the muscles and joints, leading to arthritis. This is the herb of choice when body aches and pain are the chief complaint.
Radix Clematidis: Clinically, it is best for musculoskeletal pain, spasms and cramps of the muscles, numbness and pain of the extremities, and difficulty with extension and flexion. Alleviates the pain and numbness associated with bone spurs of the neck, spine.
Semen Coicis: Eliminates dampness from the muscles to relieve pain. “It is best for tightness and spasms of the tendons restricting flexibility, It also effectively treats muscle, joint and tendon pain.
White Willow Bark: Willow bark is a proven painkiller appropriate for arthritis and pain caused by inflammation. Unlike aspirin, the calculates in willow bark do not increase the risk of bleeding. They do not irritate the lining of the stomach. For these reasons, willow bark is useful for people who have chronic joint pain but cannot take NSAIDs or COX-2 inhibitors. Willow bark continues to provide pain relief longer than aspirin.
Radix Schefflerai: Relieves pain. Releases joints stiffness.
Rhizoma Homalomenae: Dispels wind and dampness, strengthens tendons and bones. It treats both acute and chronic numbness and is most suitable for elderly patients with weakness.
Radix Astragali: Numbness of the muscles is due to insufficient nourishment and circulation. Huang qi has a strong effect to tonify which helps to generate blood and increase blood flow to the extremities. It tonifies and promotes normal circulation of to relieve skin and muscle numbness and pain.
Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii: Eliminates wind, cold and dampness to relieve pain. These three factors commonly attack the muscles and joints leading to neck and shoulder pain. This herb is used to treat soreness, pain and numbness in the neck, upper back and shoulders.
Radix Paeoniae Alba: Contain daisein, paenoniflorin and has strong antispasmodic effects to alleviate muscle spasm, cramps and pain.
Radix Rehmanniae: Has shown marked effectiveness in reducing inflammation and swelling and is used for arthritis with good results.
Rhizoma Corydalis: Invigorates blood, activates qi and alleviates pain.
Skullcap:Is used for trouble sleeping because of neck pain. This herb is used for inflammation.
Holy basil: We added this herb to protect the body from stress caused from pain and inflammation.
Moutan: When having pain it can add stress to the body, we added this herb to keep the immune system strong.
